The Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum is too important for Australia to lose. We're still fighting for a secure future, and while site ownership and other hurdles mean we can't fully reopen yet (see our dedicated campaign website), we believe this Museum is worth every effort.
That's why we're reopening in phases. We've now moved into Phase 2: you can visit during our opening hours - Tuesdays & Thursdays (10 am - 4 pm) and Saturdays (10 am - 2 pm). No appointment is needed, except for large groups. Each visit is a "Supporters Admission", helping keep the Museum going as we continue rebuilding and work toward restoring the full experience.
By visiting now, you're not just seeing what we currently offer - you're helping ensure the Museum has a future.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, there are currently no firearms on display. But you can still step back in time through our factory history exhibits and explore the General Machine Shop, home to our historic machinery collection.
The museum shop is open during hours.
Display upgrades are ongoing throughout the Museum and the General Machine Shop as we continue developing the full factory story.
Phase 3 will see the gradual reinstatement of our firearms displays, restoring this key part of the museum experience.
